Q: So are you a wedding photographer, portrait photographer or what? Just what is it you do?
A: The name Camileon™ Photography (Chameleon was copyrighted by a different photo company) is not just a catch phrase. I am whatever you need me to be. As I said on the opening page I was blessed to be trained by one of the best studios in the country (before Charles Mills passed away in January 1998) so I can do portraits with the best of them. The best camera on the planet does not take the photo, it's the nut behind the lens that makes the difference.
Q: Why so cheap for weddings, other photographers are charging upwards of $1000.00 or more. Is your service a rip off / scam or are they that much better than you? Are you coming to do my wedding with a point and shoot camera?
A: I use a Nikon D5000 as my main camera and I have a Nikon D90 as a backup.
And Why not ? I will not repeat at what site this comment was made on but a fellow photographer actually told me not to cater to the “Wal-mart®” wedding people" I should be shooting only at the high end and leave the rest to someone else. That is elitist bologna. Again why? Just because you do not make 8 figures a year does not mean you don't deserve professional services. And besides I have done my fair share of "high end" weddings and I prefer to work with real down to earth people. BRIDEZILLA NEED NOT APPLY!! Maybe you need printing, and maybe you don't but it should be your choice. I need to earn enough to live, not buy a house in Beverly Hills. That does not mean that other photographers are not worth what they are charging, perhaps they have a different style than I have. The best thing you can do is know whom you are hiring and make sure you have the right fit! Here is something you will not hear very often but I truly believe greed is not good.
Q: What kind of paper do you use for printing? / Do you do your own printing? What sizes do you offer?
A: The paper used for printing is Kodak Supra Endura® or Fuji Super Type C depending on the size and lab, this is an archival paper used by most professionals. I do not do my own printing as this is outsource to a few different labs whom I have come to trust. I offer photo sizes from wallet size to a 30 x 40. *Note any size larger than 8 x 10 is not included in the $ 5.00 sheet charge. For instance a 16 x 20 would be $ 15.00. The bigger sizes are even more costly when we view your proofs you will have several variations of sizes to choose from.
Q: Why do the differences in pricing?
A: If you want steak order steak, you want a potato with that? That is ok too. Pay for what you need no more no less. If you do not need 10 hours of coverage and need eight different locations why should you have to pay for it?
Q: Why the printing all of a sudden. When I first discovered your site you did not offer printing?
A: This is a simple one, you demanded and I supply. I have had several couples ask me to print their portraits and after a lot of research I have found two very reputable lab companies I have come to trust. Nothing against any one in particular but I have also discovered that “big box” store photo labs are completely clueless when it comes to printing professional portraits. They are great at the 4x6 but that is where their talent ends. If you are going to hang our work on your wall let's make it look great! I am charging about the same as them and I know the result we get will be the one we want.
Q: What is included in your on location offer? Does this include special events / quinceanera or any other gathering?
A: Pre-session in person or phone conversation, which ever you prefer, where we will discuss what you have in mind. 2 hours at the location of your choice. Any event lasting more than two hours will be charged and additional $ 30.00 per hour. You will receive a custom DVD gallery slide show set to music of your choice. You may change outfits as much as you like in the up to two hour sitting. I ask for the reservation fee up front because it is quite a bit of work to pack everything up and go to a location. I need to know you are serious about this. The basic package price of $21.00 includes two 8 x 10 two 5 x 7 and eight wallets. I know compared to a certain mart which will remain nameless that does not sound like much but you may mix and match from all the poses we take and I will not give you 500 stamp sized pictures. You may order additional sheets of whatever size you like, up to an 8 x 10 for $ $19.99. The “big box” guys and gals charge you up to $ 25.00 per sheet unless you buy one of their packages with the 500 stamp sized pictures. Honestly you can get a really good package with more than enough portraits for everyone in the extended family for around $ 35.00 but you are in control again I will not force you to order everything from one pose.
Q: What are your processing / turnaround times for weddings? How soon will I get my DVD with the Gold Package?
A: Usually within three to four weeks after the wedding. Printing will take a bit longer as you will need to decide what sizes you would like to order and how many you would like to receive . Usually within three weeks from the wedding date you will have your portraits.
Q: Have you ever hade any complaints?
A: No, no and em no.. I have had couples make request "hey can you do the black and white color mix on photo posed32.jpg?" That is quite common and I love when couples do that. But I have never had a complaint.
Q: Will I get a copyright release from you for on location work ?
A: No. I retain the copyrights to all photographs done on location or at any event. However reprints are $ 5.00 and I will archive your photos for five years. So in a year from now if you want a new copy of an 8 x 10 I will be able to do that for you. If you wish to purchase the copyright and a DVD of all your portraits you may do so for $100.00.
Q: Will we (the couple / parent/ Family) be signing a contract for your wedding / on location service? How much do we have to pay up front? Do you expect full payment at the time of the wedding / event?
A: Yes . All contracts are available on line at all times. When you do your wedding/event planer it will automatically fill in the blanks on the contract. Of course if you feel more comfortable with a paper printed version with full signatures we can do that as well. I just try to save ink and paper at every opportunity.
Q: What forms of payment do you accept?
A: Cash or Check.
Q: Do you sell customer information / Do you collect data for other sites. Will you spam mail me to death.
A: NO NO NO NO NO NO and no. I am a huge privacy advocate. All your information is stored on a secured server. Your images are protected by password that only you have.
Q: What if I / we cancel will we get our deposit back.
A: Absolutely not, well almost. Once we receive a deposit that date is taken off the books so that no other couple or person can reserve it. If you give enough notice in writing we will re-list the date and do everything in our power to re-book it. If that happens your deposit will be returned. If the date cannot be re-booked then your deposit will be forfeited.
Q: what if you did not answer my question here?
A: Send me an email here |
